No one should be forced to sleep outside, especially inclement weather. When temperatures dip below freezing in New York City, a “Code Blue” is activated. This means that outreach teams can immediately connect those in need to emergency shelter, and walk-ins are also available.

This should be standard practice in major cities. It is possible, it is necessary, and it needs to happen.
